The Cast
Chris Steele as Matt Webster

Matt is a selfish, prideful, worldly "every man" in the first half of the movie who is obsessed with competition, looking good, and having "stuff." He is married to Tara and is the father of three children, two teens and a younger son. He believes in God and attends church sporadically, but sees religion as little more than something you do on Sunday, sometimes. He lives a duality in that he knows he lives in a financial house of cards and suffers the agony of indebtedness, but doesn't have the courage to face his situation or communicate with his wife about the problem. He has no vision for his life or his family. He has poor relationships with his wife and children as he has sacrificed all in pursuit of a great career, house, and toys. He has been a poor leader to his family and has largely created an environment of disconnection and isolation in his home. He is humbled through a series of financial failures and family crisis and seeks help from his younger brother, Josh. After coming to Christ, he repents and is humbled. He transforms into a loving husband, who unites his family, learns and applies principles of self-reliance, and becomes a courageous leader in his home and in the community.

Alison Trouse as Tara Webster

Tara is an attractive, vain, shallow, and prideful woman. She is married to Matt. Tara has few homemaking or parenting skills, and little desire to do either. She is flippant and sarcastic in her communications. She is motivated by appearances, the esteem of her "friends," and strives to personally look good and to keep her surroundings looking good all the time. She has expensive tastes, loves beautiful things, and is a perfectionist. She shows love by keeping her home immaculate looking. Since she has no skills and loves to spend money, she hires out every need from her own personal beauty care to maid service, grocery service, fast food, home decoration, party services, etc. She has no connection with the family finances and spends endlessly due to her feeling of entitlement. Through financial failures, and family crisis, Tara seeks the Lord, is humbled and learns to submit to her husband. Her heart is softened and she seeks the forgiveness of her children and becomes committed to applying her faith and beliefs to her life, the way she lives and choices she makes. Her sister-in-law, Rachel mentors her in mothering and in the home arts and encourages and inspires her to keep learning. She learns to become a Proverbs 31 woman.

He loves the scriptures, truth, virtue and freedom and is seen as an idealist. He is the happily married father of six children under twelve years old.
